One of Esporta’s Beauty Therapists, Charlotte Burford (Esporta Stafford), has been chosen to represent UK at the international skills tournament WorldSkills 2009.
Working since August 2008 to achieve this place on the UK squad, Charlotte stormed through regional and national heats to gain a place on the final shortlist of five. Although she has a place on the squad, Charlotte will now increase her training to prepare her for the final round of judging in June when she could be chosen to go to Calgary in Canada and represent the UK. As Charlotte is going to compete for world skills she must work at a whole new level. Entrants need to be fantastic in every area of beauty therapy, as the competition looks for all-rounders who excel in every area.
Held every two years, WorldSkills involves 51 countries meeting and competing in vocational skills including beauty therapy, web design, floristry and engineering. Over 200,000 spectators turn out to view the talents of each country.
On hearing she had won a place on the UK squad, Charlotte said: “We’re over the moon to have been picked for the squad. We’ve worked really hard to get this far but we know that there’s still a lot more that we need to do, to be in with a chance to be on the final Team UK and go on to represent our country at WorldSkills. We want to be the best we can be and show everyone how great beauty therapy is. To have the opportunity to compete against the best in the world would be amazing.”
Good luck Charlotte!
