Apple iPhone users can now use the iTunes Apps store to purchase fitness, exercise and weight loss tools for their phone as well as maps, restaurant locators and more traditional shoot-em up games.
From less than £1.00, Apple iPhone users can take charge of their health, fitness and weight using the following apps:
1. One Hundred Push Ups (Cost £1.19)
Use this six week arm building exercise app that transforms users form twig armed weaklings to toned-armed 100 press up experts. The One Hundred Push Ups app includes timers and exhaustion tests.
2. WeightBot (Cost £1.19)
Set your weight loss goals and stay on track with this weight loss digital diary, where dieters can monitor their weight loss progress week by week, month by month or year by year.
3. Get Running (Cost £1.19)
Get Running is a motivational in-phone coach that transforms couch potatoes into half hour runners in only 9 weeks. The in-phone coach talks and motivates users and the digital log allows users to track their fitness progress.
4. You Booze (Cost 59p)
A fun game that hits home a message about the number of alcoholic units being drunk and the effects drinking has on weight and the liver.
5. Calorie Tracker (Cost £1.79)
The Calorie Tracker is a digital calorie tracker with over 500,000 foods items. Use the Calorie Tracker to manage your weight, track your diet and find healthy alternatives to various foods. Produced by the Lance Armstrong Foundation - though it may not turn you into a Tour De France champion!
6. B.icycle(Cost £5.99)
However, the B.ICYCLE app just might turn you into a Tour De France winner! This great app allows cyclists to find out information on travelling, highest speed, average speed, distance covered, altitute and calories burnt during exercise. The B.ICYCLE app will even send you Google Maps to recommend cycle routes.
7. IMuscle (Cost £1.19)
A great app that shows gives gym users a digital library of hundreds of video clip exercise demonstrations. This app is ideal for people looking to their increase muscle mass, muscle tone or improve their physical appearance.
8. Two Hundred Sit Ups (Cost £1.19)
An exercise and fitness app that transforms you into a Two Hundred Sit Up beast with only 20 minutes a week abs training. Use this six week programme and create the six pack or flat stomach you've always dreamed off.
Whether these games and apps will replace traditional personal trainers, only time will tell. But any app that promotes fitness and exercise through your iPhone can't be a bad thing ... as long as you lose more pounds than merely the cost of the game!
