Drinking a frequent glass of white wine is bad for your teeth. Drinking white wine can erode the teeth, something which wine makers and especially white wine tasters know only too well.
The pH acidity of white wine erodes the enamel on the teeth much more than red wine. White wine acidity attacks the calcium and phosphorus in teeth, as displayed in lab tests where teeth were soaked for 24 hours in white wine.
It is believed that brushing your teeth after a night of drinking might even make things worse as after a session of drinking white wine the enamel which covers the teeth will be soft and weak and may be further reduced through brushing.
The study, carried out by Johannes Gutenberg University, have said that eating cheese whilst drinking white wine might help to neutralise the wine's acidic effects, as well as helping to replace the calcium lost through enamel and calcium erosion.
