The Exercise Referral course will enable you to significantly progress your career in the fitness industry as you will be qualified to deal with GP referred clients defined as having low to moderate risk medical conditions (by the Exercise Referral Quality Assurance Framework and REPs).
This course will show you how to plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes for your referred clients. You will gain a deeper understanding of how specialist conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, osteoperosis, asthma, hypertension, cholesterol and heart conditions, Parkinsons Disease, Multiple sclerosis and even back pain and mental health conditions will impact clients training programmes. You will also be able to understand and demonstrate the benefits of their new fitness regime.
Entry requirements
A REPs recognised Advanced Fitness Instructor Qualification (level 3) is required prior to commencing this award.
Assessment and certification
This course is assessed against national standards for designing, agreeing and adapting physical activity programmes with referred patients/clients. Assessment is carried out by theory paper and an invigilated case study and upon successful completion learners will be awarded 20 CPD credits.
