Special K Diet
The Special K Diet was devised and promoted by Kelloggs, the breakfast cereal company ... who just happen to make and market Special K cereal.
How does the Special K Diet work?
The Special K Diet is perhaps one of the easiest diets to follow. Basically the Special K Diet involves eating two bowls of Special K cereal a day with milk, one bowl for breakfast, one for lunch followed by a 'proper' meal in the evening.
Continue in this fashion for two weeks and Kelloggs virtually guarantee weight loss.
Other than that the Special K Diet participant doesn't need to change their eating habits.
Beat the boredom of just eating cereal
Kelloggs suggest adding fruit Special K during the diet phase, including berries, banana, apple and strawberries etc. This will keep the diet interesting enough to trial it for the initial recommended two week period.
Advantages of the Special K Diet
The advantages of the Special K Diet are simple. Eating two bowls of cereal a day and a simple low fat evening lunch allows the participant to prepare easy to eat 'meals', which will literally will take a few minutes to dish out and eat.
Eating Special K for lunch also doesn't require the dieter to count calories, shop for low fat, low carb, low GI foods before eating as they can simply take a packet of Special K with them and by low fat milk from any local shop or newsagent.
Disadvantages of the Special K Diet
Well it could be argued that Kelloggs are simply marketing any everyday cereal as a weight loss food when in actual fact Special K is really no different from most breakfast cereals.
Not only that but Special K isn't as healthy has it seems because it carries quite a high sugar count. This means that as blood sugar levels rise, peak and then drop relatively quickly after eating, the Special K dieter may find themselves craving other sugar based foods in between meals. Not ideal when aiming to lose weight.
The Special K Diet - Conclusion
As a two week kick start to healthier eating and a sustainable weight loss and diet programme, participating in the Special K Diet holds no harm. Due to its very simple dieting nature this may well be a dieting programme that does indeed allow the dieter to control their weight - unlinke diets including the GI Diet, Blood Type Diet, the Atkins Diet an the Hay Diet which can sometimes perplex wannabe dieters.
