Triceps Brachii Lateral Head
The triceps brachii, as its name suggests, is a muscle which composes of three heads, situated to the back of the arm. The lateral head is the outer region of the triceps brachii, and is commonly known in the bodybuilding community as the "horse shoe" due to its distinctive shape.
An important muscle for a balanced upper arm in bodybuilding, and equally important for those into sports which require over head hitting such as tennis and badminton, the triceps brachii can be stimulated via a whole host of exercises. The triceps are primarily responsible for the extension of the elbow, with any direct exercises targeting the triceps incorporating this fundamental movement in some varying forms.
When training for muscular size it is often best to train in a rep range of 6-12 repetitions, although there is often much debate on the optimal rep range. It would be advisable to experiment with different ranges to see which suits you.
