Ryan Reynolds workout

Ryan Reynolds, Husband of Scarlett Johansson, is a movie star in his own right. Not only is he married to one of Hollywood's hottest movie stars but he also sports a killer body himself, which is evident when you see him in such films as Val Wilder, Blade Trinity and X Men Origins: Wolverine.

Ryan Reynolds, arguably, looked his best in Blade Trinity. Not only did Reynolds sport a bulking set of chest, arms, shoulders and back but is also carried the holy grail of a lean and toned six pack. In a word, awesome.

So, how did he look so good? Well, for Blade Trinity Ryan Reynolds went back to basics.

Ryan Reynolds diet plan

One essential element of Reynolds's programme was his diet. He understood that he needed carbs for energy - no low carb diet for Reynolds - and he also undertood the need to eat lean proteins every 2-3 hours during the day.

One carbohydrate and blood sugar level manipluation technique Ryan Reynolds did employ was to eat the majority of his carbs post workout and not eat any carbs after 8 pm. This means that when the body was craving sugars to replenish blood sugar and muscle glycogen levels - straight after a workout - Reynolds wasn't shy in feeding this need.

Also, by not eating carbs after 8 pm, this means the body wasn't fe with excess carbs and calories that would sit in the stomach and turn into body fat during the night.

Ryan Reynolds also saw dramatic gains in muscle when he started supplementing this diet with creatine - the supplement staple of many a pro strength and power athlete and body builder.

Ryan Reynolds resistance workout

As for resistance work Ryan Reynolds had approx 5 months to turn a lean, but skinny natural body shape into the lean hulking body he sported in Blade Trinity.

In order to do this Reynolds enlisted the help of Darren Champman, an ex UK Olympic Bobsleigh team member as a personal trainer. Champan made Reynolds do between 500 and 1000 sit ups at the start of each workout. This would not only warm up Reynolds for his workout but it would, of course, develop a lean and tone stomach.

After that the Ryan Reynolds workout woul concentrate on major muscle groups in a split resistence routine - chest one day, back another, shoulders next day, followed by a legs day, with arms through in somewhere during a given week.

Simple put, for his role in Blade Trinity Ryan Reynolds didn't perform cardiovascular work / fat burning work. He felt as a naturally skinny guy Reynolds didn't feel like he needed it. And with the body he sported in Blade Trinity and X Men Origins: Wolverine, who's going to argue?
